Emerging Trends and Challenges in Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) %X
Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) is a new tool for delivering sub-regional interventions under the ESI Funds in the 2014-2020 period, which presents a range of opportunities and challenges to programming authorities. Whilst European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)- or European Social Fund (ESF)-supported CLLD is not being adopted by all Member States, those which are will be adopting a variety of approaches to design and implementation. Four questions of interest to CLLD stakeholders are identified through an overview of emerging approaches to CLLD design and implementation. These are: The extent of CLLD take-up; management and administration approaches; the extent of financial commitment; and territorial focus. The case study of Tyrol, Austria, provides an example of one region’s approach to addressing these questions. Making effective and forward-looking use of harmonisation and simplification options, as well as exploiting the versatility and innovative potential of CLLD, will encourage its success in the 2014-2020 period.
%U %0 Journal Article %J European Structural and Investment Funds Journal %V 2 %N 4
