Challenges for Efficient Delivery of European Structural and Investment Funds

Traditional European cohesion policy undergoes a major change. It is no longer a policy for the poorer regions. This policy should be seen as an important tool for allowing the use of differentiated potentials of all EU territories to achieve European-wide objectives. According to the legislative package for 2014–2020 the reformed cohesion policy has built-in, new important features helping to enhance its effectiveness, but the real change depends on the will and ability of the Commission, European institutions, Member States and other stakeholders to implement it successfully within the coming years.
